PROFILE

I am an accomplished classical pianist and pit orchestra keyboardist with experience in many musical theatre productions. I have a strong belief in the integration of modern technologies in today’s music world, and am always looking to incorporate the latest technologies into anything I do.

  • Orchestra Director & Piano Conductor for Spring Awakening,  Boston, MA — Apr. 2012 – Present

Serve as orchestra director for NU Stage’s production of “Spring Awakening”. Duties include teaching music to the pit orchestra, keyboard programming, and piano conducting the final production.

  • Intern at Blink Music Studios, Cambridge, MA — Dec. 2011 – Present

Participate as a functional member in a dynamic high end studio setting. Duties include completing daily studio maintenance checklists, greeting clients, participating in audio and video recording sessions, editing, mixing and mastering in Pro Tools HD, editing video in Final Cut Studio, and scoring and arranging in Sibelius 7 .

  • Keyboard 3 for Legally Blonde, Melrose, MA — Apr. 2012 – May 2012

Pit musician for Melrose High School’s production of “Legally Blonde”. Duties included keyboard programming and playing the Keyboard 3 in the final production.

  • Music Director & Keyboard 1 for The Wedding Singer,  Boston, MA — Dec. 2011 – Apr. 2012

Served as music director for NU Stage’s production of “The Wedding Singer”. Duties included teaching vocals to entire cast, programming keyboard patches for three keyboard books, and playing the Keyboard 1 for the production.

Pit musician for Lexington Players’ production of “Once on This Island”. Duties included keyboard programming and playing Keyboard 2 in the final production.

Pit musician for NextDoor Theatre’s production of “The 25th Annual County Spelling Bee”. Duties included keyboard programming and playing the Keyboard 2 book in the final production.

Played Keyboard 1 for Lights Up Theatre’s production of “Into the Woods”.

Provide beginning to intermediate classical piano instruction to students of all ages.

  • Music Director & Keyboard 2 for The Wedding Singer, Wakefield, MA — Mar. 2010 – May 2010

Managed the music portion for Wakefield High School’s senior class production of “The Wedding Singer”. Duties included assembling and teaching cast and pit musicians, keyboard programming for two keyboard books in Apple Mainstage, and playing Keyboard 2  in the final production.

SKILLS

  • Accomplished musician with fourteen years of experience on classical piano, three years on keyboards and synthesizers (hardware and software), and seven years on flute and piccolo.
  • Experience playing in solo recitals, concerto concerts, and live pit orchestras for musicals. Performed in a variety of venues including the Tsai Performance Center at Boston University, the Longy School of Music, local churches, theatres, and schools.
  • Knowledgable in both professional and consumer creative software including Apple Logic, Mainstage, Final Cut Pro, Garageband, iMovie, iDVD, Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Quick learner and able to adapt knowledge to create efficient and stable live keyboard setups complete with thoughtful and intuitive patch combinations, splits and layers.
  • Knowledgable in all aspects of digital audio including creating, processing, analyzing, transcoding, and distribution.
  • Passionate about and committed to infusing artistry in music making.
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Received a Grade 8 diploma on the piano practical exam and a Grade 5 diploma on the music theory exam offered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
  • Produced a first prize-winning documentary on the Sino-Japanese War for National History Day, a project that developed and enhanced individual research techniques, data and time management, organizational skills, as well as technical and multimedia presentation skills with video and audio editing software.
